Innovation strategy for the MUHC

Mandate and context

The Quebec healthcare system is currently facing major challenges, such as the aging population, the rise in chronic diseases, and workforce shortages. In this situation, innovation is inevitably the key. More and more hospitals recognize the need to prioritize the development of innovative technologies and solutions to address these challenges.

Implementation and solutions

Volume10, in close collaboration with the institution’s teams, has developed the innovation vision for the MUHC. A comprehensive comparative study with healthcare systems worldwide was conducted to determine the best strategy for integrating innovation and emerging technologies, which involves promoting clinical teams’ ideas as well as integrating innovative products and concepts from external startups. Volume10 has designed a clear structure and a detailed plan to promote innovation within the institution. Additionally, a dedicated team has been established to successfully execute this vision.

Impact and outcomes

Volume10 has established, within MUHC, a team of individuals fully dedicated to realizing the institution's innovation vision. Volume10 has also outlined the functioning and composition of this team. The MUHC aims for this initiative to serve as a model and inspiration for other hospitals in Quebec.
